Arthur Kirkland
- - -

Arthur Kirkland // England Arthurbike

- - -

Name -
Arthur Kirkland

Age -
23

Country of Origin -
England

Social Rank -
An Elite

Job -
He doesn't have one. If anyone asks, however, he'll tell them that he works at the library.

- - -

Appearance -
Arthur stands at 5'9", and is neither fat nor skinny. He's lacking a bit in muscle, but he doesn't mind. He's never had a reason to be strong, he hardly does any physical work anyway. He wouldn't consider himself attractive, but he doesn't worry about his appearance. His face is fairly average; the only things that really stand out are his very large eyebrows. Just below his eyebrows are his hardly noticed eyes, something he would prefer people not to look at. His eyes give away too many emotions, and surely someone would see how cold and cruel he is despite his friendly attitude.

Clothing isn't something that Arthur is picky about. He dresses according to the weather most of the time. What he prefers to wear is sweatervests, suits, nice button up shirts, anything that keeps him decently covered and makes him look very average. He doesn't want to be exposed as an Elite, of course, so it is best not to stand out in a crowd.

On his upper back, he has the tattoo of the Elites. In fancy lettering it reads, We Rule The World. He hates where it is placed, but he wasn't allowed to choose the location.

Personality -
In public, Arthur acts like a gentleman. He doesn't want to stand out by being rude, so he is polite in every situation. To people he knows a well enough, he'll have more of a casual tone. He never truly acts like a friend to someone, because he doesn't want to be that close to anyone. He's afraid of losing a friend to removal, and even more of falling in love with a potential criminal.

With the other Elites, he's rather mean. He tends to snap at them, even if they are just being friendly, and seems to have a permanent scowl on his face when he's in the Elite building. He believes he'll gain more respect by acting like this, because no one wants to disagree with someone who will belittle them for their opinion. Arthur finds it easier to make friends with other Elite simply because they have less of a chance of being removed. He's still mean, but it becomes more of a joke than anything.

To people he doesn't know and those he barely knows, Arthur has no care for them at all. If they are removed, then they deserved it. Why would he care for criminals? He feels the same about his friends. He is afraid of losing them because he doesn't want to be lonely. Friends are easily replaced, but he still prefers not to have any. It is love that he really worries about. Could he still believe it was just if his lover was removed?

Arthur has a secret side that he doesn't want anyone to find out about: he's a pervert. He does have a permit to enter the Red Light District, and he's probably there more than he should be. Most of the time, he goes there to buy porn. Occasionally he'll pay for a prostitute's services.

Likes -
Tea : He hardly drinks anything else.
Reading : It's more educational than television.
Being in public : Something about ordinary people fascinates him.

Cooking : He loves it, but it's best if he stays away from the kitchen.
Money : He's an Elite. He can have as much of it as he wants.
Power : It feels nice knowing that you rule the world.

Dislikes -
Greasy food : It's disgusting.
Rain : He had enough of rain in London, thankyouverymuch.
Ignorance : If no one has to pay to go to school, what is their excuse for being uneducated?
Small dogs : They're loud, annoying, and piss everywhere.
Dirt/Mess/Filth : If someone litters, he won't hesitate to have them removed.
Quiet : He has spent too much time alone; he'd rather be around people.

Fears -
Water : He can't swim.
Fire : When he cooks, he sometimes sets himself on fire.
Needles : He had an awful experience with an incompetent doctor and some large needles once.
Getting close to people : The Elite aren't meant to make friends with the ordinary people.
Afraid of people finding out about his stash of pornography : It's not illegal to have, but it's still awkward.

Quirks -
Goes by the name 'James Smith' in public.
Has a habit of counting when he's bored.
Brings his cat, Winston, everywhere with him.

History -
As most Elite are, Arthur was born into the status. He was raised to believe that everything the Elite said was true, and that everything they did was right. There was no room for disagreement. This truth was revealed to him at the age of ten, when he witnessed his parents being removed. The other Elite explained to him why it happened: despite being part of the Elite, they were planning a rebellion. They had to be removed. And Arthur did not question this.

The other members of the Elite continued to raise him, only further brainwashing him. Still, he wasn't particularly close to anyone, and he always felt lonely. It took three years for anyone to notice this, showing how little they cared for him, but he wasn't bothered. He knew the Elite were too busy to worry about him. Arthur was pleasantly surprised one day, though, when he was given a small Scottish Fold kitten. Winston, he called it, and he turned out to be a horribly mean kitten, but Arthur loved him anyway.

As he grew older, Arthur was given more power. Suddenly, he was able to give his opinion about new laws. He memorized the faces of the many Police members and was now able to give them orders. He could decide if a person needed to be removed. The thought thrilled him. There were billions of people on the planet, and he controlled a good portion of their lives.

Soon, though, he grew tired of seeing the same people he had known his whole life. He requested to move and work in a different part of the world. He was transferred out of London to New York City. There, he discovered that moving wasn't his best idea. He was hardly respected by those who had been Elite in the city their whole lives. It would take a while before he was truly welcomed, but by that point he found himself preferring life outside of the Elite building.

The ordinary people were so much more interesting than the Elite. Watching them live their lives so oblivious to the truth of the world.... Some of them, anyway. Arthur was eventually able to spot the differences between an ordinary person and an Aware. Being an Aware was technically against the law, but so long as the person wasn't doing anything to harm the Elite then he would not have them removed. The Aware were even more interesting than the others.

Arthur spends most of his time outside of the Elite building and has his own apartment in the city because of this. The only time he goes back to the Elite building is when they are having an important meeting and he is needed.

Roleplay Sample -
It was the middle of the day, but the convenient store was relatively empty. Besides himself and the cashier, there were only two other people in the small building, a mother and her child. Arthur stood in the back of the store, watching the two as the mother paid for her items. It was then that he saw it. The child, just a small thing, probably not old enough to understand where he even was, reached out and took a candy bar from the shelf under the counter. The mother didn't notice, and left the store.

Curious, Arthur followed them out of the store, watching them from a distance. He knew what was going to happen, just as soon as the pair went a little further away. Sure enough, two Police appeared. Arthur never looked away as he watched one hold the mother back as the other took her child. The Police didn't hesitate to remove her child right then and there. The mother sobbed, trying to escape the hold of the other Police, but it was a futile effort. There wasn't anything she could do without being removed herself.

As the scene ended, the Police left and the mother followed soon after. Arthur lit a cigarette, leaning against the building where this all started. The child had been young, too young to understand what that he broke the law. Was it wrong for that he was removed? No, not at all. Had he gotten away with it this time, surely he would have grown older and stolen again. They couldn't have that. It was better to remove him now.

With a final drag, Arthur properly disposed of his cigarette butt and walked away from the store, quietly speaking the three phrases that he wholeheartedly believed in:

"The laws are never broken.
The Elite are all powerful.
The world is perfect.
"
