So, because people clearly have a lot of questions about... everything, I am making this thread for question asking!
If that wasn't obvious enough.

Anyway.
Just ask your questions, and I will answer them to the best of my ability~

I'm just not sure how much of the plot is free to be based on interpretation; but anyways, I suppose I'll go shoot off what's been hanging on my mind:

  • Do Police wear uniforms? I'm leaning towards no, since they're supposed to bend in with society. I've also understood from the Social Ranks thread that Police, in general, aren't aware of who exactly the other members are, so... uh, what happens if a Police catches another Police breaking the law (I mean, if a law-enforcer is caught strolling past curfew and another believes said law-enforcer is rule-breaker), or if they share the same target, etc.? Do they have badges or some type of proof that they can show? Or are weapons the proof (though I wouldn't be surprised if there was maybe a hidden black market that sells guns and snazz)? Are Police given chances if they break said the law, unlike rebellious civilians who are usually erased practically on sight?

  • Have history books been modified to suit the current Utopian society? That is, have the Elites edited out wars that have occurred centuries ago, or burned the books that were available before the current rule? In any case, how much is censored? I'm curious about the media, too. Like, do people report crimes, if any, besides typical weather patterns and maybe recent technological advances? Without any "problems" in a perfect environment, I could only imagine how... er, repetitive some of the news may be. Uh, yeah, just curious about how books and media works, since I'm assuming they have tough guidelines to follow.

  • What's "erasing", really? Do the cops actually go around killing people off or do they brainwash them into joining their forces ('cause, boy, talk about being their own worst enemy)? ... and speaking of brainwashing, do all cops have the ability to make friends, family, forget the existence of a person? Or are there specialists in the Police force that do the job of "erasing" memories?

I'LL COME BACK, ADMIN, TO HAUNT YOU WITH MORE QUESTIONS. I SWEAR.

- No, the police don't have uniforms. They are given guns, though, which is what they would use to identify each other if it was necessary. Somehow they have to hide that gun, but I suppose that would be up to the person to decide how it was hidden. Really the only laws that a Police is allowed to break is killing people, and being out past curfew.

- History wasn't erased or modified. They want people to know how imperfect the world was before the Elite took over, hoping it will inspire them to believe things should never go back to the way they were. The media wouldn't report crimes, because there are none. The News probably is really boring. But, actually, I like to think that violent TV shows and books and things still exist as another way of instilling fear in the citizens. They still need to be submitted to the Elite for approval, of course.

- "Removing". ;~; It's removing. lololIdon'treallycarewhatit'scalled, but 'removing' is the official term. Not 'erasing'. Anyway! Not the point. Removing people is killing them. And the memories aren't erased, per se, so much as normal people are so brainwashed anyway that they will believe whatever the Elite tells them. If they are told that their sister never existed, then it must be true. Basically, when a person is removed, the Elite will come into contact with anyone who was known to be close to them and tell them that such a person never existed. The Police just do the removing.

Please, please, come back will all the questions! I want this place to make sense to everyone. xD;;;

I have a small question. What's the censorship's extent? Pretty much what I mean is, do we have classic literacy works such as Shakespeare or Lewis Carroll and others or were they wiped out and replaced with whatever served the Elite's needs?

- Basically, any books that existed before the Elite did still exist today. The Elite aren't big on censoring the media and books because, like I told Kiku, they think violent things will instill fear in the common people of the world becoming a place like that.

I hope that answers your question well enough. :3

Alright, so obviously the Elite and all that want to be able to catch people doing things quickly in public. However, what about the things done in private? Do they use surveillance cameras in residences? Since they know when everyone works, do they occasionally send a member of the police into a residence to check it over? Or do they do anything else similar?

And what if an ordinary person catches another person breaking a law? Are the police able to brainwash them of that or are they removed? (I would think so, but I'm not sure so I thought I should ask anyway.)

Geebus, I really should have thought a lot more things through before opening this place up. Aah, silly me. But oh well. That's why this thread is good! Anyway:

- It's cameras. Tiny little surveillance cameras all over the place. In homes, in businesses, on the streets, in cars, etc. :3

- You know, I've never actually thought about this. Hurr durr. Um, the witness is more likely to be brainwashed than removed. Just think if a large group was to witness someone breaking the law. That would be a lot of people to remove. It's easier to just brainwash the people.

Are the citizens allowed to have cars/motorbikes? Or is buying one considered spending money recklessly?
How old do you have to be to drink alcohol? Is that the same as in old times, e.g. 21 in America?

- I think, so long as the citizens don't have multiple cars/motorbikes/whateverothervehicle, it's fine. Obviously they need to get around somehow, and public transportation can only do so much.

- And, uuuh... I think the Elite would have made a universal drinking age for the whole world, and since 18 seems to be the norm, let's go with that.

This has been bothering me forever.
So what if a couple have a child, want another one, apply, get accepted yadayada and the mother has twins, or triplets. Then she would have more than two kids and would be breaking the law, but it's not like she meant or wanted to break the law. Would she get erased ?

-Y'know, that is a lovely question.
And you know what I believe the answer would be?

Remove the younger twin/babies. So only the first would live.
As cruel as it sounds, that would be the best option in the eyes of the Elite, as the mother technically didn't break the law.
